Introduction to Video
Wrapping up “Introduction to Video” feels a bit like stepping off the stage after a whirlwind performance. I learned so much this week – storyboarding, filming techniques, basic editing – and somehow managed to emerge with watchable projects on the other side.
The most surprising discovery for me was the importance of planning. Sure, I knew this would be challenging, but actually creating the assignments forced me to think critically about each second, the flow of the video, and the message I wanted to convey. It felt like a blueprint for success, and seeing my vision come to life on screen was incredibly rewarding.
I have not received any feedback from my blog. My kids have been giving me there best constructive criticism. Their suggestions on pacing, shot selection, and even music choices helped me refine my videos and make it more engaging.
This week was a whirlwind of learning, filming, and editing. While I think the final assignments are watchable, the real journey was the process itself, filled with unexpected discoveries and challenges. The biggest surprise was the importance of planning. Taking the time to plan out each shot, visuals, the flow, and the overall message forced me to think critically. It felt like a blueprint for success, and seeing my vision come to life on the screen was incredibly rewarding.
Not everything was smooth sailing. Filming turned out to be trickier than expected. Lighting, sound quality, and unexpected interruptions all conspired to test my patience. But overcoming these hurdles made the final product all the sweeter. Despite the challenges, the most enjoyable part of the course was the sheer creative freedom. Taking a simple idea, transforming it into a visual story, and seeing it come to life was incredibly fulfilling. There is something magical about the editing process, where you can weave together different elements to create a cohesive and impactful message.
