How to be a better Photographer.
Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone: A Learning Adventure
Let’s be honest, learning new things can be tough. This week I embarked on a learning journey that pushed me way outside my comfort zone. The technical aspects were definitely a hurdle – think way beyond the land of Microsoft Word and Excel. Artistically, this week was challenging as well. I learned some eye-opening information and thought provoking takes on photography. I have always been somewhat of an artistic person, and this was a great refresher. Check out my personal reflections on how to be a better photographer.
Confessions of a Social Media Newbie
Let’s just say my social media presence is non-existent, and my computer skills are pretty basic. So, diving into this new territory was like jumping into a pool without knowing how to swim. There were definitely moments of frustration as I grappled with new concepts and unfamiliar programs. What the hell is a Hash Tag?!!! If WordPress had a face, I would punch it!!! Pixlr?….more like GetFixedlr, stupid pixlr.
But it wasn’t all bad! The best part? Realizing that I wasn’t alone. There’s a whole world of resources out there for learners of all levels. Whether it’s online tutorials, helpful articles, there’s something for everyone. YouTube has become my dear friend of mine this week.
The Power of Stepping Outside Your Comfort Zone
The most rewarding aspect, though? The sheer satisfaction of learning something completely new. It’s a great reminder that we never stop growing, and there’s always something new to discover. Plus, who knows what doors these newfound skills might open in the future?
I struggled with WordPress, I struggled with tagging, I struggled with Flickr and Pixlr, just to name a few. I still struggle. But my learning journey wasn’t just about technical skills. I also had to tackle some creative assignments that forced me to apply my knowledge in a whole new way.
Visual Assignments
Check out the 4 visual assignments I did. Populate the Landscape, Stay Home. Living is Dangerous, , Say it like the Peanut Butter, and Draw it. Each one had its own level of difficulty, and each one required me to learn something new, while making me think outside the box visually. I really enjoyed these assignments. I also completed a Photo Safari. This was another assignment that really made me push the limits of my creativity.
The Takeaway
Learning something new can be daunting, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and embrace the challenge. With a little determination and the right resources, you’ll be surprised at what you can achieve. So, what are you waiting for? Start your own learning adventure today! And who knows, maybe you’ll even throw in some creative assignments to make it extra fun.
