This week I learned the basic steps of audio editing, involving importing audio clips, adding transitions, and exporting the final product. I learned to download sounds from several resources and was exposed to the world of sound effects and music libraries. They are a valuable resource for adding depth and mood to audio projects.
I gained experience with specific tools offered by Click Champ and Audacity. Specifically trimming audio clips, adjusting volume levels, or applying basic effects. I also learned how to upload my work to Soundcloud and YouTube.
I was challenged with some technical aspects. I was learning new software and was unfamiliar with audio editing terminology. It took some trial and error to get the sound effects, transitions, or overall flow of most audio assignments exactly how I envisioned them.
Some of the easier aspects were that Freedsound offered a vast library of sound effects and music, making it easy to find the perfect audio elements for my projects. Once I learned the core functionalities of the editing software, basic tasks like trimming audio or adjusting volume become relatively straightforward.
Every software has its quirks, and I encountered some unexpected behaviors or limitations while using Click Champ or Audacity. The pursuit of a perfectly polished audio project can be time-consuming and frustrating. It drove me crazy!
I really enjoyed the ability to combine sounds, music, and voice recordings to create something original and impactful. Learning a new skill like audio editing was a rewarding experience. And uploading my creations to Soundcloud and YouTube allowed me to share it with the world and potentially receive feedback.
Overall, this week’s assignments were a valuable introduction to the world of audio editing. By overcoming the challenges and embracing the creative potential, I gained valuable skills and had a lot of fun in the process! See the links below:
